A Texas man who attempted to move his horse during heavy rains caused by the remnants of Tropical Storm Imelda was electrocuted during a lightning storm and drowned Thursday, authorities said.

According to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, Hunter Morrison, 19, died Thursday as he was moving his horse while rains from Imelda pounded southeastern Texas, KBMT reported. The incident occurred about 11 miles southwest of Beaumont, police said.

The remnants of the tropical storm have dumped more than 41 inches of rain in the area over the last 72 hours, the television station reported.

In a Facebook post, Morrison's brother, Caleb Morrison, shared his family's grief.

"Right now my family and I are going through one of the most horrific times in our lives with losing Hunter," Caleb Morrison wrote. "Thank you for all the kind words and phone calls I have received over the past eight hours."

A spokesman with the Sheriff's Office said an autopsy won't be performed for several days because of the storm, WOAI reported.
