A disabled veteran from Michigan lost his mobility when someone stole his customized golf cart.

The family of a disabled Army veteran in Michigan is searching for his customized golf cart, which was stolen Thursday night.

Jerold "Fuzz" Lovely fought in the Vietnam War and survived multiple bouts with cancer, WXYZ reported. He is currently battling lung cancer and his mobility was limited, but the golf cart, a retirement present, gave him the freedom to move around his rural, 10-acre property in Oxford, the television station reported.

"Running down, getting the mail, running taking the garbage down the road," Lovely told WXYZ.

Family members said they usually park the golf cart in the garage, but it stopped running in the driveway Thursday and was stolen that night.

"You put all that time and energy in and my son helped me work on it," Lovely's son, Jamie Lovely, told WXYZ. "Then, 'Poof,' it's gone!

“That golf cart meant a lot to the whole family, because it was nice to see Pops getting out of the house and do a couple things.”

The Oakland County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the theft.
