The Broward County Sheriff's Office released video from the April 11 incident, which occurred in Weston, the Sun-Sentinel reported.
The bearded man, wearing a blue shirt and jean shorts, appeared to be fishing and moving from one spot to another as he roamed through residents' backyards, the newspaper reported.
One resident said he noticed the man but thought nothing of it. But when he checked his surveillance video, the resident noticed the fisherman was trying to unhook the door to his patio, where bicycles and other items were stored, the Sun-Sentinel reported.
Video showed the man tried to open the patio door of at least one other home, according to the Sheriff's Office.
