A New Chicago, Indiana, man was expecting his stimulus payment to appear in his checking account. But he got quite a surprise when he tried to take $200 from his bank.

Instead of the available balance the volunteer firefighter expected, there was too much money in the account, Charles Calvin told WGN.

The ATM said he had $8.2 million available.

Thinking it was a glitch, the single father of three swiped his card again, and the millions of dollars were still there, The Northwest Indiana Times reported.

He also checked with the clerk at the store where the ATM was located to see if anyone else had issues with the machine. No one reported anything, The Times reported.

Monday morning he called the bank, and the person he spoke to said the amount wasn't listed on the account, but the $1,700 stimulus payment was deposited, WGN reported. Bank officials said there may be an issue with the machine where it prints the wrong balance on receipts, the Times reported.

Calvin told the Times that the extra money would have been nice to have since his one son who is old enough for school has to do his e-learning assignments on Calvin's cellphone. The family doesn't have the internet at their home, the Times reported.

"You go from being a millionaire one second then back to being broke again. But hey, once you're poor you don't have anywhere else to go but up," Calvin told WGN.
