According to the station, the hospital staff noticed Martin always made a beeline for a favorite window as soon as he regained the strength to stand and marveled at a nearby dog park, eventually telling anyone who would listen about the "dream Corgi dog" he so desperately wanted.
In turn, the staff reached out to the nonprofit Little Wish Foundation and made Martin’s dream a reality.

According to its official website, the foundation works to brighten the lives of those who have suffered because of a medical condition, and there are currently 14 people ranging in age from 2 to 20 hopeful their requests among the current "30 Days 30 Wishes" campaign will be granted like Martin's.

Although WGN reported Martin was declared completely cancer free one month ago, he returns regularly to Lurie for chemo to ensure the tumors now eradicated from his chest do not return. At least now, the park and his pup are waiting when his sessions are complete.
