A California man's surveillance camera caught footage of an unusual moment: five mountain lions gathered just steps away from his rural home.

According to KTXL-TV, the clip, recorded recently on Chris Brutesch's property in Pioneer, stunned wildlife experts because of the animals' solitary nature. They rarely travel in groups of more than three, biologists said.

"Extraordinary to capture five together for sure," Peter Tira, a spokesman with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, told the news station. "There's one lion that clearly looks to be bigger and larger than the others, so we assume that to be the mother lion."

Tira added that residents shouldn’t be concerned about the mountain lions.

"They want very little to do with humans," he told KTXL.
