According to Atlanta police Officer Steve Avery, authorities, along with a news reporter and photographer for WGCL-TV, were at the scene of an automobile crash.
When the photographer got out of the van to set up his camera, police said Seniqua Lunsford, 38, who was involved in the original crash, jumped into the news van and drove away.
WGCL reporter Iyani Hughes was still in the back of the van editing video when Lunsford took the van, authorities said. As soon as she noticed what was going on, police said, Hughes shouted for help, WSB reported.
Officers then pursued the van.
Hughes told officers that when she could not get Lunsford to stop, she got into her seat and put on her seat belt, police said.
The van crashed moments later. Hughes, who is pregnant, was not hurt, WSB reported.
Lunsford, who is also pregnant, was arrested at the scene, the television station reported. She was taken to an area hospital with an arm injury, although it was unclear whether Lunsford was hurt during the first or second crash.
Police said Lunsford will be charged with kidnapping, with other charges likely, WSB reported.
