Robbins decided to travel this year to France for the marking of the 75th anniversary of the D-Day invasion and brought a picture of Ganaye. He showed the photo to journalists with France 2, a French media company.
To Robbins surprise, France 2 tracked down Ganaye, 92, and reunited them just 40 miles from where they first met.
When Robbins sat with Ganaye, he showed her the photograph and told her: “I always loved you. You never got out of my heart.”
The emotional reunion was caught on camera with the help of France 2.
Robbins was married for 70 years until his wife, Lillian, died in 2015, and Ganaye was married in 1949. Both now are widowed.
Robbins lives in Olive Branch, Mississippi, and has asked Ganaye and her children to visit him.
The couple agreed to see each other again soon, according to People.
