Plans for a new restaurant at Austin Landing may pave the way for other improvements.

A Buffalo Wild Wings between Kohl’s and Kroger near the Ohio 741 entrance may accompany other upgrades to Austin Landing’s eastern entrance, according to the developer of the 142-acre mixed-use retail complex near the Austin Boulevard interchange of Interstate 75.

If the BW3s’ plan is approved by Miami Twp. trustees, VisCap President Larry Dillin said he hopes the multi-million dollar project would include the following components:

• Improved signage. Dillin said he plans install a sign at the Ohio 741 entrance that is similar in size to the one at the southern entrance. While it will not include a brick facade as the one off Austin Boulevard does, the sign would provide a landmark for that entrance.

• A traffic light. The first traffic light to be installed within Austin Landing was approved about two years ago - before VisCap took over the complex's management. It would be at the intersection of Landing Way and Liverpool Lane, where a two-way stop now exists between Kohl's and Kroger. When approved, the project was estimated to cost $250,000.

• Better pedestrian access. Dillin said Buffalo Wild Wings would cater to those staying at Staybridge Suites and the Hilton Garden Inn, as well as those living at The Flats at Austin Landing. He plans to improve pedestrian access from those sites, including crossing areas along Liverpool Lane near Kohl's.

• Improved cycling accommodations. Dillin said he wants to install a bicycle rack at the new Austin Landing sign at Ohio 741. He has also talked expanding the regional bike path to include a route through the northern section of Austin Landing.
