The former Miamisburg Middle School teacher, now 33, was convicted by a jury last April in connection with a 2017 incident with a 14-year-old male.
The panel of eight men and four women found her guilty three counts of sexual battery and three counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor.
O’Connell’s decision filed Jan. 9 came in response to a request for early release filed a month earlier.

Defense attorney Lawrence Greger said his client “has conducted herself as a model prisoner” since being incarcerated June 13 at the Ohio Reformatory for Women in Marysville, court records show.
Prosecutors opposed Langford’s release, stating in their filing it “would significantly demean the seriousness of the offenses, and it would not adequately punish the defendant for her actions.”
