The new pub will occupy 6,000 square feet, will seat 140 to 160 and will open with about 75 employees, Old Bag of Nails owner Mike Purdum said in a phone interview.
“We’ll probably start construction in the next week or two, and we’d like to be done by the first of September,” Purdum said.
Expansion into the Dayton area was a natural progression for the chain, according to Pardum, who spent part of his childhood in Middletown and recalls visiting the Cross Pointe center decades ago. “My mom and I used to shop at the Gold Circle there,” Purdum said.
The Mason location “has been a tremendous success for us,” Purdum said, and he has confidence in the Dayton-area market, where he hopes to add one or two more locations in future years.
“We signed a 21-year lease” at Cross Pointe, Purdum said. “We’re in it for the long haul.”
The chain is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. Its menu features items such as house-made clam chowder, burgers and its signature dish, Fish & Chips. The new Centerville pub will have 20 craft-beer taps, Purdum said. The pubs offer a “Kids eat free” special on Sundays.
