The weekend arrest of an Dayton police officer was the latest incident in which area law enforcement officials have been suspected of a crime.

Torrence Edward Laprath, 33, was booked into the Montgomery County Jail early Sunday morning after he allegedly burglarized a house while intoxicated in the 4700 block of Strathaven Drive, thinking it was his home, an official said.

Here are five recent times in which area law enforcement officials have been suspected of crimes:

Justin Augustine, 38, of Troy, resigned on Nov. 1 after being charged with driving while under the influence after wrecking his cruiser while on duty Oct. 27. He was later charged with improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle.

Both charges are being heard in Miami County Municipal Court.

OAKWOOD OFFICER TRIAL: A trial is set Dec. 14 for an Oakwood police officer charged with disorderly conduct after a March bar fight in Tipp City.

Jeffrey Watkins, 41, of Tipp City, is facing a minor misdemeanor charge after authorities said he and his twin brother, Jeremy, of rural New Carlisle, were involved in a March 11 incident at Tony’s Bada Bing on West Main Street.

The brothers pleaded not guilty in Miami County Municipal Court and will have separate trials, according to court records.

Cody B. Lindsey, 24, has pleaded not guilty and was released on a recognizance bond – with the condition he has no contact with the victim.

A woman said during a dispute Lindsey smashed a Nintendo game system, knocked items off the fireplace and a table by the door and punched a wall as the woman called police, according to the report. Some of the items from the table hit her and a young child, leaving a mark on her leg, the woman said.

Lindsey has been replaced on restrictive duty, according to Dayton police. His next court date is Dec. 4, records show.

EX-COP CONVICTED: A former Phillipsburg police officer was sentenced in September to 43 years in prison for raping women while on duty.

Justin Sanderson, 33, was found guilty in August of on 19 counts, including rape and kidnapping related to three separate incidents involving four women during May and June 2017.
