In celebration of the store’s grand opening, the store will give $24,500 to several organizations in Butler Township. The Butler Township Police Department is one of the recipients. The department purchased a child identification program with a combined $7,500 donation from the new supercenter and the Sam’s Club, which is located nearby.
Officials said the store will employ about 400 workers. More than 1,200 people applied for jobs at the new store. The average wage at Wal-Mart for full-time hourly associates in Ohio is $9.82 per hour and higher in metro-market areas.
