Ohio State University will be one of two colleges in the United States to test a new Abercrombie & Fitch concept store.

The New Albany, Ohio-headquartered apparel company will open a 3,350-square-foot campus shop in the Gateway District on High Street to serve as a “learning lab” in digital-physical retail integration, according to executive vice president of retail real estate at Steiner & Associates Anne Mastin, who was referenced in Chain Store Age.

Expected to open in August, the store is less than half the size of a regular Abercrombie & Fitch and features a 30 inch screen for customers to shop the company’s website. Shoppers can also pick up online purchases and place digital orders at the store.

The Gateway at Ohio State University was first developed in 2005 in an effort to revitalize the neighborhoods surround the university. It has grown into a 7.5 acre mixed-use project with more than 225,000 square feet of retail, entertainment and restaurants, in addition to 184 apartments and office space, according to Steiner’s website.

This news organization has reached out to Mastin for more information about when the store will open.

Another Abercrombie & Fitch concept store is planned to open at the University of Southern Carolina.
