The parent company of Old Navy is planning to open 60 more stores this year.

Gap Inc., which operates the discount apparel brand, told CNBC it will also be remodeling about 150 Old Navy stores over the next few months.

Most of those remodels will include upgrades to fitting rooms, bathrooms and check out areas and around 10 percent of those stores will be a full makeover.

The new stores will bring the total Old Navy store count in the U.S. to above 1,000. Locally, Old Navy has stores at the Dayton Mall, The Greene and Liberty Center.

However, Gap is closing around 200 Gap and Banana Republic stores by 2020, which have not done as well as the Old Navy Brand.
