This morning, June 1, Parsons was busy serving up doughnuts to other former police officers and an assistant Montgomery County prosecutor who stopped by to sample the new shop’s specialties, which include a maple bacon doughnut.
The new doughnut shop’s hours are 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. It employs six, and is looking to hire about four more employees, Parsons said.
“And we intend to have a mobile doughnut truck operating by the end of the summer,” Parsons said.

On Friday, June 2 — National Donut Day — Parsons said he will unveil a “9-1-1” doughnut that will have just a touch of chipotle-style pepper heat.
Parsons worked for 26 years on the Dayton Police Department, and also served for more than two decades as commander of the police academy at Sinclair Community College.
The motto of District 6 Donuts, displayed proudly above the cash register, is, “It’s a crime to eat just one.”
Parsons’ sister, Kellie Tomlinson, is a co-founder of the new business. Parsons said District 6 will partner with the Dayton Police History Project and will collaborate with other non-profit organizations in the Oakwood-Dayton area, including those benefiting community theater and pets.
