Are TV, school to blame for movies?

TODAY’S MODERATOR

After a report last week of a suggested sequel to “It’s a Wonderful Life,” we sought your thoughts on originality, or lack thereof, in movies these days. This came from Dr. George R. App, an emeritus professor from Ohio State University.

He blames “the lack of education and development in the writing industry.”

“Adversely, the movie industry has been taken over by the generations of ‘blank-minded’ video watchers who don’t have any imagination because it has been stifled by the government-controlled indoctrination system called ‘education’ and the constant watching of senseless and mindless hours of TV programs.

“If our education system ever returns to being truly an ‘education’ system, and young children are no longer fed a constant viewing of video-nothingness, we may be fortunate enough to see some imaginative writers and producers appear on the scene … without copying everything that has been done before.”

We'll share a few more responses on Saturday. Email me at rrollins@coxohio.com.
