The oldest active airplane used by the U.S. Air Force took its final flight from a western New York base to retirement at the National Museum of the United States Air Force on Friday, Nov. 7, 2008. Calspan Corp.'s Total In-Flight Simulator — known as TIFS — has been around since 1955. The plane has been flown for the past 40 years in the development of bombers, supersonic transports and other aircraft.
