Dayton Police: Woman shot after damaging vehicle with golf club, chasing man into apartment

A woman was shot after she reportedly damaged a man’s vehicle with a golf club and tried to beat down his door.

A man saw a woman damaging his vehicle with a golf club around 8:15 a.m. Tuesday. She reportedly threatened to shoot him and the man retreated to his apartment, where the suspect followed him inside, still carrying the golf club, according to Dayton police.

The man told officers she continued to beat on his door and he thought he heard a gunshot. The man then shot through the door, striking the woman.

The man was one of the 911 callers who reported the shooting in the 4400 block of Germantown Pike.

Another 911 caller said that a woman on a bus had been shot. It is not clear why the suspect was on the bus.

The man was interviewed and released and the woman was charged with aggravated menacing and criminal damaging, a Dayton police news release said.

The woman was shot multiple times, according to initial reports. Her injuries are not life-threatening, the release said.

Multiple Dayton police cruisers were on the scene, as well as three RTA vehicles.

Blood could be seen on the steps of one of the RTA buses and an evidence crew was taking pictures of the bus.

Police tape surrounded an apartment on Germantown Pike before crews left the scene shortly before 10 a.m.
