A Montgomery County Sheriff’s deputy suffered a minor injury after a stolen car hit a cruiser, which prompted a chase throughout the county.

Around 11:10 p.m. Wednesday, the deputy responded to Creekside Townhomes, where the deputy spotted a silver Chrysler 200 that matched the description of the stolen car parked in the 1900 block of Republic Drive. The deputy parked in front of the car, with the front of the cruiser touching the front of the car that had multiple people inside, according to a release from the sheriff’s office.

As the deputy got out of the cruiser, the driver of the Chrysler accelerated, pushing the cruiser and deputy backward. In the process, the door of the cruiser hit the deputy’s arm, resulting in the minor injury.

The suspect fled south on North Dixie Drive to Interstate 75. Another deputy in Harrison Twp. saw the car on North Dixie Drive and started a chase along with a Five Rivers MetroParks ranger.

They followed the car south to the I-75 and state Route 4 interchange, where they lost sight of the car, according to the sheriff’s office.

Dayton and Kettering police saw the car and briefly pursued it, but lost it near Whipp and Bigger roads in Kettering.

The sheriff’s cruiser sustained minor damage as a result of the incident. The sheriff’s office is continuing to investigate.
