The firm owned by Dyrdek, a Kettering native and star of two MTV shows, plans to move eight marketing and creative employees to a 5,800-square-foot building it bought as part of five acres at 790 Enterprise Court, Cluxton said.
“This is such a unique and different type of company that has expressed interest and officially has made a decision to locate to the Mound. So no longer are we just a focused on science and technology as possible tenants,” he said.
“But to me it signifies that we are a true business park looking for types of companies that are looking to expand and grow their business,” he added. “To me, it just really changes the dynamics of who our audience is – or potential audience is – for occupying space on the campus.”
The move by Dyrdek, which closed in late December, will mean 13 firms employing about 280 employees will be operating at the park, he said.
“This transaction shows that Mound continues to build momentum as a business site,” Miller Valentine Realty Vice President Gerry Smith, who brokered the sale, said in a statement issued Thursday.
Meanwhile, park officials have The Woodworking Shop LLC under contract for 31,000 square feet at 1195 Mound Road, Cluxton said.
“Another example of something unique and different,” he said.
Cluxton said he hopes to close the deal with the Monroe business, which produces commercial and residential custom cabinetry, within 60 days.
