Sidney Woman Back To Prison, This Time For Attempted Murder

A Sidney woman, about to be sentenced on charges, including attempted aggravated murder, read out loud a letter she wrote to a former acquaintance who she admitted to have robbed and stabbed multiple times for money to buy drugs.

Michelle Ewing, 40, "from the bottom of my heart, I regret everything that had happened," she wrote to her victim Jimmy Crabtree of Troy. Crabtree was not in the courtroom for sentencing.

Judge Jeffrey Welbaum ordered Ewing to serve a total of 14 years in the Ohio State Reformatory for Women in Marysville, where she had served time twice before on drug-related convictions.

Prior to sentencing, Crabtree's niece, Teresa Davis, asked the judge to "impose the maximum sentence," while Crabtree's sister, Pat Odom told Ewing, "I hope you find peace within yourself."

Crabtree, who lived alone, is developmentally disabled.
