The patrols were to be concentrated during the 6 to 10 p.m. timeframe, according to a news release. A statewide curfew is from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
“This change will allow officers to focus traffic safety efforts on numerous locations,” the release stated.
Last year, there were 584 alcohol-related and 236 drug-related crashes in Montgomery County, according to the Montgomery County Combined Agency OVI Task Force. Thirteen of those crashes were deadly.
Anyone who plans to drink alcohol should always designate a sober driver.
In addition to the statewide curfew, Montgomery County is under a stay-at-home advisory, in effect through Dec. 17.
