Soccer Moms And Dads Spend Big Bucks At Troy Strawberry Tournament

Cash registers were "ringing" in Troy this past weekend as the annual Strawberry Festival Soccer Tournment brought an estimated 11,000 visitors to Troy. Those visitors spent an estimated $2,745,000, according to the U.S. Soccer Federation.

A record 286 teams from six states participated in the two-day youth tournament. Four parks in Troy and one in Tipp City were used for the single elimination event.

211 referees had signed up to work the tournament.

The actual Strawberry Festival in Troy is the weekend of June 6,7, and 8.

The Strawberry Festival parade will be aired live again this year at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 7 on WHIO-TV Ch. 7.
