An employee at a Philadelphia Starbucks who called police on two black men in the store is from the Dayton area.

Holly Hylton, 31, originally from Dayton, sparked a nationwide controversy after two black men were arrested in the store she managed because of a phone call she made to police on April 12.

The Associated Press reported two men had asked to use the restroom but an employee refused because they had not purchased anything. The two men sat down in the store and an employee asked them to leave but they declined.

Hylton did not answer calls from this news organization and neither did some of her relatives.

Hylton is no longer working at the Starbucks located in the downtown area of Philadelphia, a spokeswoman told several media outlets since the incident occurred in early April.

Hylton graduated from Wright State University in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in Spanish, according to the university. She studied at Sinclair Community College from 2005 to 2011, a Sinclair spokesman said. Hylton earned her master’s degree in Spanish translation and interpretation from LaSalle University in December, according to reports.

Since the incident, she appears to have deactivated her social media accounts.

Starbucks CEO Kevin Johnson has since apologized for the arrests and said that the company is reviewing its policies and guidelines. On Tuesday, Starbucks announced it would close all 8,000 of its company-owned stores on May 29 for a training session in response to the arrests.

While stores are temporarily closed, nearly 175,000 employees will receive training to address implicit bias, promote inclusion and prevent discrimination, according to the company. There are around 50 Starbucks locations in the greater Dayton area, according to the coffee chain’s website.
