Troopers suspected that Richards was operating his vehicle impaired, and he also had an outstanding arrest warrant from the Butler County Sheriff’s Office, according to a release.

During the arrest, Richards got away from the troopers and ran into southbound traffic. That’s when he was struck by a 2020 Freightliner semitrailer driven by Jamie M. Hornsby, 43, of Scottsburg, Indiana.

The crash remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
