OSU emergency room to be named for Abercrombie and Fitch

Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center will soon have an emergency department named after a clothing store known more for its scantily clad models and refusal to sell plus-size clothes.

The OSU Board of Trustees on Friday is slated to approve naming the emergency department after Abercrombie & Fitch, a Columbus-based chain that markets to young adults and teens.

The Wexner Medical Center, named after long-time OSU donor and supporter Leslie Wexner, founder of Limited Brands, is undergoing a $1.1 billion expansion and renovation. Abercrombie & Fitch has contributed toward the project.

A&F, which has endured several public controversies over its hiring and marketing practices, already has an OSU faculty position named the Abercrombie & Fitch Chair in Inflammatory Bowel Disease.
