Streaming services in high demand today. Will it slow down your service?

Netlfix, Hulu, HBO, Showtime, Amazon Prime Video — the list of streaming services area residents are using today goes on and on.

Hundreds of schools and businesses in the area are closed today as wind chills drop to as low as 40 below zero, meaning more people are staying home instead of going to work or school.

“We definitely see a spike in the use of our services in cases like today where people are confined to their home because of the frigid temperatures,” said Mike Hogan, spokesman for Spectrum.

But the increased volume shouldn’t cause slow downs.

“Our networks are designed to meet high demand caused by all sorts of reasons, whether it be breaking news, sports or weather,” Hogan said.
