A Tipp City man was sent to prison Monday for robbing a Subway restaurant in a Troy.

Anthony Morgan was sentenced to mandatory eight years in prison.

He previously pleaded no contest to aggravated robbery in the June 3 robbery of a Subway restaurant.

Troy police said a man armed with a box cutter robbed the business at 15 S. Dorset Road around 10:40 a.m. The man placed an order before robbing the employee, police said. He later was arrested following a traffic wreck in Dayton.

At sentencing in Miami County Common Pleas Court, Morgan told Visiting Judge William Wolff Jr. he wanted to apologize to the victim. "I am ashamed of that, I regret it," he said.

Janna Parker, assistant prosecutor, said Morgan had three prior robbery convictions and had served four previous prison terms in Ohio.

Morgan was given 106 days jail credit, and ordered to pay court costs and restitution of $179 to Subway.
