AT&T is planning to drastically expand its physical footprint with 1,000 new stores, including pop-up shops for events.

“Consumer’s expectations are fundamentally changing and its all about being more convenient and closer to the end customer,” said Rasesh Patel, senior executive vice presiddent of digital, retail and care for AT&T.

The store formats include urban stores in downtowns where consumers work and live and mobile pop-up stores for community needs and events.

“Whether its a natural disaster, you know hurricanes, fires, we can be there in need and respond to the community. So it gives us tremendous flexibility to put the storefront directly where consumers need the service,” Patel said.

Currently there are about 10 AT&T stores in the Dayton area and about 25 in the Cincinnai region, including seven in Butler County.
