El Toro Bar & Grill, the Dayton-based chain of Mexican restaurants, will open its 12th location in the region this week.

The newest El Toro will start serving the public at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 30, at 710 Gardner Road off Springboro Pike (Ohio 741), El Toro District Manager Enrique Alvarez told this news outlet this morning, Dec. 27.

El Toro officials had finalized a 10-year lease in August for the space that formerly housed a Max & Erma’s restaurant. Max & Erma’s opened its restaurant there in October 2006, and shut down in January 2016.

“Springboro is a great area,” El Toro’s Alvarez said in August. “We are a family-owned local chain trying to cover the Dayton market so we can be the number one choice for local residents when they choose a Mexican restaurant.”

The new restaurant will employ 30 to 35.
