A trial initially set to start today for a Dayton woman accused of a theft that prompted a deadly high-speed police chase has been rescheduled.

The trial of Alyssa Irwin-DeBraux has been pushed back to Jan. 15, 2019, court records show.

Irwin-DeBraux, 18, was indicted on grand theft after the Sept. 11 fatal collision in Miami Twp. involving Moraine officer Matt Barrie and local Realtor Mary Taulbee.

Authorities have said more charges would be pursued against Irwin-DeBraux. Additional charges, her attorney has said, would cause today’s trial date to be rescheduled.

No additional charges have been filed in the case against Irwin-DeBraux, Montgomery County Common Pleas Court records show.

Taulbee, 57, of Lebanon died after the wreck on Ohio 741 during Barrie’s chase – which reached 85 miles per hour - of a Jeep that matched the description of one that was stolen earlier that day, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The defendant has been in the Montgomery County Jail, where she is being held on a $25,000 cash bond, since the night of the fatal wreck. A not guilty plea has been entered on her behalf.
