The two service members were killed while conducting an operation Friday, according to the statement.
"The names of the service members killed in action are being withheld until 24 hours after notification of next of kin is complete," the statement said, according to CNN.
The two deaths bring the tally of U.S. service members' killed in Afghanistan to at least four in 2019, Reuters reported. That brings the overall total to least 65 U.S. military deaths since January 2015, according to U.S. government and NATO reports.
