Two Injured In Apartment Fire In Beavercreek

Two people, including an on-duty Beavercreek police officer, were injured in an apartment fire Wednesday afternoon.

Fire broke out in the Stonebridge Apartments on Stonecastle Drive.

Fire investigators said the police officer was the first to respond to the fire scene and suffered smoke inhalation while trying to get residents out of the 24-unit building.

Investigators said a resident of the apartment also suffered burn injuries.

They said both were removed to local hospitals and expected to be OK.

Investigators said the fire had broken out in a electrical room of the building then spread to other units.

He said the fire did around $500,000 in damages.

The American Red Cross is assisting residents displaced by the blaze.

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
