According to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, the Uber driver picked up a passenger, who sat in the rear of the car, the Houston Chronicle reported.
Another man, who was with the passenger, walked to the rear driver’s side of the vehicle and began shooting, striking the victim several times, the newspaper reported.
The Uber driver, who was not injured, called 911 and drove away with the wounded passenger, KHOU reported.
The victim was taken to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, the television station reported.
