The campus firefighters used Rice Krispies to lure the ducklings to safety Sunday, the Hartford Courant reported.

The campus fire department responded to a call about the baby birds trapped in a drain near the university's chemistry building, the newspaper reported. Responders found the mother duck and two ducklings near the drain, calling for the missing ducklings.

According to the UConn Public Safety's Facebook page, one firefighter was lowered into the drain and rescued six of the ducklings. The two remaining ducklings swam away in the drain's tubing, so firefighters lured them with Rice Krispies at the next drain basic and pulled them to safety, the Courant reported.
