The new restaurant will employ 115 to 125, Ward said. The Michigan-based chain operates a dozen locations in Michigan and Florida and one in the Toledo area.
Black Rock Bar & Grill serves entrees on a 755-degree volcanic rock, allowing diners to cook their meals to their liking. The entrees range from steaks, scallops and shrimp to hot dogs.
“The diversity of our menu is our strength,” Ward said. “And we serve everyone, whether you’re wearing a business suit to flip-flops. We cater to everybody.”

The franchise owners of a new 280-seat restaurant coming to the front porch of the Mall at Fairfield Commons are shooting for an early-February opening of the eatery that will be the first of its concept in the Dayton area.

The construction schedule is highly dependent on winter weather, Ward said. The previous restaurant was demolished to make way for the new 8,200-square-foot eatery, and workers have been busy at the site for months.

The area surrounding the Mall at Fairfield Commons “was very appealing to us,” Ward said, because of the variety of retail stores and residential neighborhoods nearby, and the proximity of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and Wright State University.
The Michigan-based chain operated a dozen locations in Michigan and Florida until last week, when it opened its first Ohio restaurant, and 13th overall, in the Toledo area.
The new restaurant in Beavercreek will employ 115 to 125, Ward said.
“The Mall at Fairfield Commons is excited to welcome Black Rock Bar and Grill with their extensive menu and unique dining experience,” Fairfield Commons mall officials said earlier this year, when the restaurant was confirmed. “This is the perfect complement to the types of dining options that we are able to showcase to our visitors.”
