VITA To Offer Free Tax Preparation At Sinclair

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) site at Sinclair Community College will provide free income tax preparation assistance for lower income people and families. VITA sites have free electronic filing for faster refunds.

To receive free tax-filing services, you must provide the following information: Photo ID All W-2 forms for wages earned in 2007 Social Security Cards or Individual Taxpayer Identification Numbers for filer and all persons included on tax return If there were child care expenses in 2007, bring the provider's Social Security number or Employer ID number and address. Also, bring payment documentation for the total amount paid to the provider, including the amount paid for each child Any correspondence received from the IRS in 2007 and 1098 and 1099 forms, if applicable Copies of prior year tax returns, if available If married filing jointly, both parties must be present in order to process the tax return Last year's tax return

For refunds that will be directly deposited, checking and/or savings account numbers will be needed. Direct deposit means a faster refund by seven to 10 days, but for those who prefer, a refund check can be mailed.

The VITA site at Sinclair is located in Room 5213 in Building 5.
