Warm today after rainy start, followed by dry, cooler weekend

Today we will start out with showers and a slight chance for thunderstorms, starting in the early hours of this morning, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington. Rain chances are expected to fall off in the afternoon, though there is a slight chance that we will see some showers just after nightfall.

Temperatures will be warm today, with a high near 85 degrees, which will fall to around 60 degrees tonight.

Tomorrow, though, a higher-pressure system building in the area will bring dry, calmer and cooler weather, with a high of around 76 degrees and a low around 53 degrees, all under mostly clear skies.

Saturday will follow much the same pattern, with a slightly warmer high near 80 degrees under sunny skies. Saturday night will also be slightly warmer, with a low of around 57 degrees.
