A $1.4 million bridge replacement near downtown West Carrollton is being planned as part of the city’s flood protection plan.

The city will need to acquire “several parcels of property” as it replaces and lengthens the Elm Street Bridge, a project targeted to be completed in the summer of 2019, said West Carrollton Engineer Max Callahan.

The 23-foot long bridge a few blocks south of center of downtown will be replaced will with a 78-foot long structure in anticipation of widening Owl Creek as part of West Carrollton’s flood protection plan, Callahan said.

The cost for entire project – land acquisition and demolition - is estimated at $1.367 million, according to the city, which is seeking funding through the Ohio Public Works Commission.
