An elderly woman was reportedly injured after falling down an escalator at the Dayton International Airport.

A 70-year-old Lima resident suffered lacerations to her right leg after losing her footing at the top of the concourse escalator early Monday morning, according to a police report. The woman fell down most of the length of the down elevator. The woman was treated by airport staff before being taken by medics to Grandview Hospital.

Escalator-related injuries appear to be rare in the Miami Valley region.

One of the last incidents to make the news occurred in December 2015 when a 21-year-old theft suspect was hurt after jumping from an escalator at the Dayton Mall in an attempt to elude police and mall security.
