Prince Harry has enough of the treatment of his girlfriend by the British media.

The Royal issued a rare statement saying that a line has been crossed when newspapers in the U.K. published front-page stories about Meghan Markle, the BBC reported.

Markle is an American actress known for her role as Rachel Zane in "Suits."

In the statement he acknowledges that the public overall supports him but that comes with a price, that the public wants to know about his public life.

But Prince Harry says that Markle has been abused and harassed recently.

"Some of this has been very public - the smear on the front page of a national newspaper; the racial undertones of comment pieces; and the outright sexism and racism of social media trolls and web article comments," the statement reads. "Some of it has been hidden from the public - the nightly legal battles to keep defamatory stories out of papers; her mother having ot struggle past photographers in order to get to her front door; the attempts of reporters and photographers to gain illegal entry to her home and the calls to police that followed; the substantial bribes offered by papers to her ex-boyfriend; the bombardment of nearly every friend, co-worker, and loved one in her life."

The prince is said to be worried about her safety and that he is upset he cannot protect her.

"It is not right that a few months into a relationship with him that Ms. Markle should be subjected to such a storm," he wrote in the statement.

Harry's life has been lived in front of the camera. He was caught on film when he was 20 in a fight with a paparazzi photographer outside a nightclub. In 2012, nude photos of him in a Las Vegas hotel room were published.
