Next Saturday, June 20, the YWCA is hosting a virtual 5K. The organizers ask participants to purchase a “ticket” by making a donation to the YWCA.

Participants can run the 3.11 miles at their own pace in any location. Tickets are available until June 20 at 9 a.m.

“Walk, jog, run, hit up the treadmill, or even ride a bike - whatever you fancy,” a flyer for the event reads.

Participants are encouraged to spread awareness using the hashtags #UnitedWeRun5KDayton, #BLMDayton and #OnAMission.

Data shows inequities span cradle to grave for local black residents

All proceeds from the race will go to the YCWA of Dayton. Their signature campaign, Stand Against Racism, raises awareness about the impact of institutional and structural racism and works to build a community for those who work to promote racial justice.

Participants can preorder a tank top that will arrive after the completion of the race. All proceeds from tank sales will also be donated to the YWCA.
