Yellow Springs Officer Cleared In Shooting

Greene County Sheriff's investigators say the Yellow Springs officer involved in Monday's shooting will not be charged.

Early Monday morning, Officer Timothy Knoth, responded to a call concerning a person with an emotional problem. Police say when he arrived on scene, 24-year-old Corey White began attacking him with a tire iron. Knoth then fired his weapon, hitting White.

The Greene County Sheriff's office met with prosecutors today to review the case, and found Knoth acted in self-defense.

Prosecutors charged White with one count of felonious assault with a deadly weapon. White is being held at the Greene County Jail.

Knoth was previously on paid leave from the police department while the case was investigated.
