BATTIGAGLIA (Wilson), Phyllis J.
Age 92, passed away January 28, 2021, at home in Clovis, CA. She was born August 22, 1928, to Lucian and Mary Ellen
(Moran) Wilson in Hamilton, Ohio. She moved to Dayton, Ohio, as a child and graduated from Julianne High School class of 1946. Phyllis married in 1947 and lived in the Belmont area raising her 10 children in a small house near Walnut Hills Park, where she was known as "Mrs. B" to the many neighborhood children who gathered at the Battigaglia household. She was a long-time member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church where she also worked in the school cafeteria while her children were attending school there. Phyllis worked at Rike's downtown until retiring in 1991. In 1993 she moved to Clovis, California, where she made many friends and was near 4 of her children that had relocated to the area. She was a devout Catholic and always found a place to attend mass no matter where she lived.
Phyllis was predeceased by her parents; brothers, Ed Wilson, John Wilson, Louis Wilson; sisters, Mary (Mamie) Synkowski, Pat Sanders, and Lavern Rees. She was followed in death by her son, Antonio (Tony), who passed away 7 days after her.
Our "Queen B" will be sorely missed by her children, Joseph (Marilyn) Battigaglia, Michael Battigaglia, Mary Tipton-Martinez, Deborah (Walt) Crosby, Phyllis (Pat) Farrell, Beverly Battigaglia, Donna Battigaglia, Robert (Linda) Battigaglia and Thomas Battigaglia, along with Tony's significant other, Kay Colen.
She is survived by over 117 grandchildren; great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Grandma B was the matriarch of the family and set an example of kindness by welcoming the step-grandchildren into the family as if they were their own. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, many of whom always tried to stay in touch with Aunt Phyllis, and many friends that she had made during her 92 years.
