Blauvelt, Nicholas B.

Nicholas Butterfield Blauvelt, age 84, passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2024. He was born on May 10, 1940, in Hamilton, Ohio, the son of Roland and Evelyn (Butterfield) Blauvelt. Nick and his wife, Janice (Miller), were married on June 12, 1965, at the First United Brethren Evangelical Church in Hamilton. Nick was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church. Nick graduated from Hamilton High School in 1958. He attended Miami University in Oxford but left in 1960 to work at the Herring Hall-Marvin Safe Company in sales and later with Western States Machine Company in technical sales. In 1965 he was offered an opportunity to work at General Electric. Nick's career began with management assignments in manufacturing and logistics for 35 years. In 1962, Nick enlisted in the Air National Guard at Clinton County Air Force Base in Wilmington, Ohio. He served in the Air National Guard and the Air Force. After six years, he received an Honorable Discharge for his service with the 160th Combat Support Squadron. He was a 62-year member of the Washington Lodge 17 F&AM and a 60-year member of the Scottish Rite, Northern Masonic Jurisdiction. Nick was an avid fisherman and enjoyed coaching his sons and other youth for the SAY soccer program. Left to cherish his memory are his wife (Janice); two sons, Matthew (Pam) Blauvelt and Scott (Heather) Blauvelt; four grandchildren, Mason, Nicholas, and Spencer Blauvelt, and Caroline Millikin; nephew, Matthew Miller; and a former daughter-in-law, Erica Millikin. He was preceded in death by his parents; aunts and uncles, Ruth and Walter Eichel and Ken and Virginia Blauvelt; and nephew, Michael Miller. Funeral service will be held at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Ave, Hamilton, Ohio, on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at 11:00 AM with Rev. Mark Finfrock officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 5, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home.
