Bush, David

Bush, David Allen

David Allen Bush, 73, of Dundee, MI, passed away on December 15, 2024, at Henry Ford Health in West Bloomfield Township, MI, after a lengthy illness. David was born on January 15, 1951, to Rita and William/Bill R. Bush, Sr. in Dayton, Ohio. After graduating from Chaminade High School in 1969, he enlisted in the United States Army as an Infantry Paratrooper in March of 1971 and was stationed in Fort Richardson, Alaska until March of 1973. After the Army, David enrolled and graduated from Lincoln Technical Institute of Indianapolis, IN as a certified automotive and diesel mechanic. David worked as a heavy equipment operator for companies within the Dayton area and moved to Michigan in the early 1990's. David retired from the Operating Engineers Local 324 as a heavy equipment operator. David was a loving brother, uncle, grandpa and father who adored his children and grandchildren. While he cherished his life as a loving father, he was also immensely proud of the career he achieved. He was a respectful, strong, selfless, intelligent man who was brave, caring, adventurous, entertaining, and witty in so many ways. He loved living life on the edge every single day since he was little. He will be remembered for his upbeat personality and radiant smile every time he walked into a room, even knowing no one at all. He loved making new friends everywhere he went. He leaves behind a memorable impression with those he met. David always wore his heart on his sleeve. He was the type of person to always lend a helping hand, no matter the time or day. If someone called, needing help, he was on the way. He was very proud to be called Dave or Bushman. David had many hobbies; to name a few---he enjoyed riding his Harley with his friends, attending various charity events to raise money for families and co-workers. He enjoyed billiards, Nascar both on TV and at Michigan Motor Speedway. He enjoyed the outdoors, watching football, attending Detroit Lions games, collecting Budweiser memorabilia, as well as attending garage sales and auctions, collecting nick-knacks and antiques. David loved hearing about his grandkids endeavors even when he couldn't attend, loved seeing his family, and, most importantly conversations and video calls with his children and grandchildren. David was preceded in death by his loving parents, brother William/Bill Bush, Jr. (Marianne) and sisters Mary Bush and Lynn Bush. David is survived by his son Chad Bush (Karen) and their son, Blake of West Milton, Ohio; daughter Allison Bush (Josh) and their three children – Aiden, Allison, and Emma, of Miamisburg, Ohio; brothers Jim Bush (Marcia) of Phoenix, AZ; John Bush (Monica) of Dayton, OH; Dale Bush (Debbie) of Federal Heights, CO; sisters Anne Bush (Gayle) of Brookville, OH; and Lori Bush-Engel (Jeff) of Golden, CO; 10 nieces and nephews-their spouses, 11 great nieces and nephews, 1 great-great niece, many loved cousins, as well as dear life-long friends. We want to thank all of his caregivers throughout the years, his case managers at Bailey Care Consulting, LLC of Michigan as well as the staff and doctors at Maple Manor of Novi, MI. Special thanks to Cheryl (Miles) Waybrant of Davison, MI; Tricia Friday of Silverwood, MI; and AnnMarie Jones of Flint, MI, for their never-ending devotion to David and his family and for always being the true heroes throughout his journey.
