Chalk, David L.
David L. Chalk, 85, of Monroe, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Hamilton on April 11, 1939, the son of Lloyd J. and Tillie A. (Slezak) Chalk. He married his beautiful wife, Wanda F. LeGrande Chalk on December 28, 1956 and they were together for 66 years. In 1963, David graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a degree in Chemical Engineering, with high honors. In 1976, he graduated from Xavier University with the degree of Master of Business Administration. David was employed by Armco Steel Corporation in Middletown for 31 years, where he worked in the areas of quality systems, technical support of manufacturing operations, and research. He retired in 1993 as Corporate Vice-President of Research and Technology. Following his retirement from Armco he was employed at the Ohio Edison Materials Technology Center in Kettering for 12 years, retiring from there in 2005 as Director of Manufacturing Technology. In retirement, he and Wanda enjoyed traveling domestically and abroad. Two of their favorite destinations were Hawaii and Paris, France. A longtime member of B.P.O.E Lodge 93 of Hamilton, he enjoyed years of golf at the Elks Club and made many friends. In addition to golf, he always enjoyed watching the Cincinnati Reds and Bengals. David was a lifelong member of Redeemer Church in Hamilton and loved to read the Bible and historical books. In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda F. Chalk; son, Greg Chalk; and sister, Joan Nickert. David will be greatly missed by his other three children, David B. (Linda) Chalk of Loveland, Lisa Chalk-Mason of Middletown, and Mike (Sheila) Chalk of Monroe; five grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family with Pastor Nicole Thomas officiating. Private interment will be at North Monroe Cemetery.
