CONDA, Lucy Wayde
Lucy Wayde Conda, age 99, of Dayton, Ohio, departed this life peacefully on Friday, January 22, 2021, at the Cypress Pointe Health Campus in Englewood, Ohio.
Lucy was born January 29, 1921, in Frankfort, Kentucky. She was seven days from celebrating her 100th birthday. She is preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Steve Conda; her beloved sister, Nellie Sherrer; and her brother, Joe Conda.
Lucy graduated from Mayo Underwood High School in Frankfort, Kentucky. She attended Kentucky State University. In 1941, her special Cousin Warren convinced her and Nellie to move from Frankfort, Kentucky, to Dayton, Ohio. Lucy worked and retired from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.
Lucy was a member of The Tabernacle Baptist Church for over 60 years. She was an accomplished tournament Duplicate Bridge Player. Lucy was a member of the Dayton Duplicate Bridge Club, Inc. In 1977, she began to help, encourage and coach new players. Her joy was playing bridge, partying, and celebrating with her many friends.
Lucy is survived by her nephew, John Hawkins of Forestville, Maryland; cousins, Mae Murphy, Joanne Robinson, Beverly Metcalf of Frankfort, Kentucky, Beverly Henry, of Kansas City, Missouri, Odessa Johnson of Dayton, Ohio, Dalton Johnson of Huntsville, Alabama, and Kellene Johnson of Westchester, Ohio; adoptive daughter, Linda Clay Dixon and special friend, Claudia Jones of Dayton, Ohio.
In accordance with Lucy's wishes her body was donated to the Boonshoft School of Medicine at Wright State University the Anatomical Gift Program. All who wish to may join Lucy's family and friends at the Annual Fall Memorial Service. The date and time is yet to be determined.
