Gertrude H. Cortner Duncan
Age 99, passed away, January 7 after a brief illness. She was born in Dayton, OH, and in later years resided in Columbus, OH. A graduate of Dunbar High School class of 1943 and later retired from the federal government at the Defense Electronics Supply Center (DESC) after 32 years of dedicated service. Gertrude was formerly a member of Corinthian Baptist Church in Dayton, OH and subsequently moved her membership to New Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Columbus, OH. Survivors include her daughters, Belinda (Clifford) Hall, and Rhonda Peterson; grandchildren, Julian (Celia) Carpentier, McKenzie (Myeshia) Harmon, Morgan (Gabriel) Towles, and Candace Hall; great-grandchildren, McKenzie Nicole Harmon, Maxton Harmon, and Blake Carpentier; sister-in-law, Elsie Mitchell. She was preceded in death by her daughter Arnette Harmon and husbands, Artie D. Cortner and Robert W. Duncan. Gertrude also leaves a host of relatives and friends.
Visitation 10:00 AM and funeral service 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at Corinthian Baptist Church 3161 E. Fifth Ave. Columbus, OH 43219. Arrangements entrusted to Marlan Gary Funeral Home, The Chapel of Peace, 2500 Cleveland Ave. Columbus, OH 43211. Interment West Memory Gardens, Dayton, OH.
